Aldermore Bank Contractor Mortgages - Help and FAQs

I am looking for some mortgage advice. I am currently on a grad scheme, 18 months into a three year contract. the chances of me being moved onto a permanent contract are slim. So I suppose my question is, will Aldermore Bank even consider me for a mortgage before then? Is there such thing as a ‘contractor mortgage’?

I am an engineering contractor looking to buy a home in London. My next step is to secure a mortgage ideally with Aldermore Bank. Should I contact Aldermore Bank directly or seek the services of a contractor specialist mortgage broker who is used to dealing with contractors and Aldermore Bank.

I am finding the process of looking for a contractor mortgage extremely frustrating. I can't seem to find any lenders who really understand my situation and the challenges faced being a contractor. Are there any mortgage underwriters who apply a common sense to ensure getting a contractor mortgage is as straightforward as possible.

Is it true that Aldermore Bank quote higher interest rates when it comes to mortgages for contractors?

I am lead to believe that mortgage lenders mostly view contractors as high risk applicants; so demand 3 years’ accounts to validate mortgage affordability. In my case as a finacial contractor, this evidence is unlikely to give an accurate picture of my income potential. Will a broker specialising in contractor mortgages persuade lenders such as Aldermore Bank to offer funds on the more realistic basis of my contracted rate.
